Sura al-‘Asr (the Time)

Sura : Makki by Tilawat : 103 by Reveal : 13 Ruku` : 1 Ayats : 3 Part No. : 30

1. وَالْعَصْرِO 1. زمانہ کی قَسم (جس کی گردش انسانی حالات پر گواہ ہے)۔ (یا- نمازِ عصر کی قَسم (کہ وہ سب نمازوں کا وسط ہے)۔ (یا- وقتِ عصر کی قَسم (جب دن بھر چمکنے والا سورج خود ڈوبنے کا منظر پیش کرتا ہے)۔ (یا- زمانۂ بعثتِ مصطفیٰ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی قَسم (جو سارے زمانوں کا ماحصل اور مقصود ہے)o 1. By the passing time (whose rotation bears witness to the affairs of mankind). (Or: By the Prayer of declining day (‘Asr, for this Prayer is the middle of all Prayers). (Or: By the declining time of the day, (when the sun, after shining for the whole day presents the sight of its setting). (Or: By the holy era of Prophethood of Muhammad Mustafa (blessings and peace be upon him), the sole objective and the most coveted achievement of all ages historic as well as pre-historic, and of all times to come. 2. إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍO 2. بیشک انسان خسارے میں ہے (کہ وہ عمرِ عزیز گنوا رہا ہے)o 2. Indeed man is at a loss (for he is losing his valuable lifetime), 3. إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِO 3. سوائے ان لوگوں کے جو ایمان لے آئے اور نیک عمل کرتے رہے اور (معاشرے میں) ایک دوسرے کو حق کی تلقین کرتے رہے اور (تبلیغِ حق کے نتیجے میں پیش آمدہ مصائب و آلام میں) باہم صبر کی تاکید کرتے رہےo 3. Except for those who believe and do good deeds and exhort one another to Truth and exhort one another to patience (in the face of hardships and afflictions that are faced while preaching the Din [Religion] of Truth).
